The Mission
Our mission is to establish a permanent sanctuary of remembrance dedicated to the 138 sailors of the USS Jacob Jones (DD-130) and all U.S. Navy service members lost in the Battle of the Atlantic.
Through this memorial we seek to transform a relic of war into a lasting teacher of peace, ensuring that the courage and sacrifice of those who gave their lives for our freedom remain an enduring beacon for generations.
A Memorial Long Overdue
For more than eight decades, the sailors of the USS Jacob Jones (DD-130) have rested in an unmarked watery grave.
They deserve to be remembered in a visible and permanent way.
Honor the Sacrifice
A permanent memorial in Cape May to recognize the 138 sailors lost aboard the USS Jacob Jones will honor the courageous lives lost given in service to our nation.
A Beacon for Future Generations.
The memorial will be a physical link to the past –carrying forward the indomitable spirit of service and the transcendent value of sacrifice.
